Don't mean to but in, but this is an interesting conversation. i'm about ready to build an engine for my 31 and have some 270 and 302 blocks, also a 819 small port rebuilt head. I have the 270 ready with stock pistons, but I would really like to use a 302 I have that's .060 over I believe. this is going to be a torque motor probably never see 4000 rpms. I would like to get the compression up to 8.0- 1 - 8.5-1 with stock pistons. i'm just not sure if this combination will work, are the small port 819 heads 99 cc ? and what would this get you on the 302.
