Something I noticed in the pictures, it looked like the leaves for the rear springs have some sort of cover on them. Do they?
Indeed the springs are wrapped in canvas and then clad with sheet metal:
Old Car Manual Project 49-54 Chevrolet Service Manual The dealer service bay had a special c-clamp tool to inject grease under the canvas. I used aerosol white grease with the little red straw to get grease into the existing holes from previous dealer service.
