It looks like all the information you need is on those two tags. Hercules engines were used on many stationary applications welders, pumps, generators, and such. I have a four cylinder flathead Hercules that ran a welder. Some farm equipment used them. I also have a Kohler generator with a small overhead four that is rated a 1.5 KW at 115 Volts DC. It has no name on the engine that I can find.
It's not that the one you are dealing with has a military engine it is that the military used what Hercules was building.
